Week 6 of the NFL season delivered one of the stranger, wilder slates of the year, capped by a Monday night shootout in which the Buffalo Bills held off the Los Angeles Rams 37-34. Earlier in the day, two other teams couldn't be separated at all: the Washington Commanders and New York Giants played to a 27-27 tie, a result so rare in the NFL that most fans will go years without seeing one.

Bills survive a Rams shootout

Buffalo and Los Angeles traded big plays all night before the Bills pulled away late to close out a 37-34 win on Monday Night Football. Both offenses moved the ball at will for long stretches, and the three-point final margin undersold just how back-and-forth the game felt in the fourth quarter. The win keeps Buffalo near the top of the AFC East, while the Rams will have to shake off a tough road loss heading into their next matchup.

A tie game in Washington

The Commanders and Giants played to a 27-27 deadlock, the kind of result that generates headlines simply because it almost never happens. Both teams had chances to win it outright, but neither could find the game-deciding score, leaving both with a result that counts as half a win and half a loss in the standings rather than going to either side's ledger cleanly.

Blowouts and statement wins

Not every game was close. The Detroit Lions routed the Arizona Cardinals 45-21, and the New England Patriots dismantled the Las Vegas Raiders 45-17 in one of the more lopsided results of the week. The Green Bay Packers handled the Chicago Bears 31-7, and the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Indianapolis Colts 34-22. The Houston Texans cruised past the Tennessee Titans 26-3, continuing a dominant stretch for Houston's defense.

Elsewhere, the San Francisco 49ers edged the Seattle Seahawks 32-29 in a tight division battle, the Denver Broncos beat the Los Angeles Chargers 23-17, the Cincinnati Bengals topped the Miami Dolphins 31-24, the New York Jets held off the Cleveland Browns 17-12, the Minnesota Vikings beat the New Orleans Saints 23-13, and the Jacksonville Jaguars edged the Philadelphia Eagles 19-17 in an early-window nail-biter.

Sunday night and the week ahead

The Baltimore Ravens closed out Sunday's action with a 30-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football. Week 7 kicks off with the Denver Broncos hosting the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night, as teams around the league start looking toward the stretch run of the regular season.
